The harp is an instrument of great beauty, and I love to play with beauty.

—Julia Haines, musician, composer and harper

Julia Haines is a contemporary bardic harper, an independent composer, a multi-instrumentalist, teacher, and music therapist.

I love to make music that showcases the fusion of my interests in traditional, classical, improvisational, experimental and contemporary music. Having studied with some great musicians of traditional, jazz improvisation and new music, these influence my unique approach to the lever harp.

A first prize winner for harp and voice at the O’Carolan Festival, Keadue, Ireland, she’s been called  a “harper among harpists” and a ‘hip harper” by the Irish press.
